Whip Media’s tech team is looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer located in Los Angeles or New York Metro area to join one of our core engineering teams!
This role is responsible for working in close collaboration with the Product, Data, Infrastructure, and other Engineering teams to translate high-level requirements into scalable, high-quality software solutions across both frontend and backend systems. You will help design and build data-driven applications that power Whip Media’s platforms and internal tools.
As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in independently designing and delivering end-to-end solutions, while also providing technical leadership. You’ll maintain a holistic view of the system, balancing user experience, performance, scalability, and maintainability. This position is an individual contributor role with ownership across the full technology stack.
What you will do:
Design, develop, and support full stack solutions across Whip Media’s product ecosystem
Translate business and technical requirements into well-designed, scalable implementations
Contribute to backend services, APIs, data integrations, and frontend user experiences
Write and review technical design documents and implementation plans
Help establish and evolve engineering standards and best practices
Partner closely with cross functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and support their technical growth
Proactively identify opportunities to improve system reliability, performance, and developer efficiency
What you will bring:
Located in Los Angeles, CA or New York, NY Metro area
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including full stack development
Strong proficiency in backend development using Java, Spring Boot
Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures
Solid experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React/Angular
Strong understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, Redshift, or similar) and data modeling
Deep experience working in an Agile methodology and a solid understanding of Agile delivery
Experience working with cloud-based AWS infrastructure
A strong appreciation for data-driven systems — you must love data!
Comfortable working in and improving existing codebases
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
Experience with event-driven or data-pipeline architectures (ETL, streaming, batch processing)
Experience writing automated tests at multiple levels (unit, integration, etc.)
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)
Prior experience mentoring engineers in a senior or lead capacity
Exposure to media, analytics, or SaaS platforms

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $120,000 - $140,000 + bonus. Additionally, you will be eligible to participate in our robust medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other benefit plans.
