Job Description
*Job Title:* Senior UI/UX Designer (Design Systems)
*Company:* TechBuddy
*Location:* Remote (US time zones preferred)
*Job Type:* Contract
*Hours:* 20 hours/week, with additional flexible hours for client work
*About TechBuddy*
TechBuddy builds high-quality websites and digital experiences for clients using a component-first approach. As we have grown, we need a more consistent, repeatable way to deliver excellent work across many client projects without losing quality or flexibility. That is why we are investing in a scalable, white-label design system in Figma and a matching component library for production. This Senior UI/UX Designer role exists to own that foundation end to end, keep it accessible and well documented, and ensure it translates cleanly into build-ready components. We need this role now because we are scaling delivery and collaboration, and we want a dedicated owner to keep standards clear, the system evolving, and the team aligned.
*About the Role*
As a Senior UI/UX Designer at TechBuddy, you will own the design system foundation that powers our client delivery. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys systems thinking, strong UI craft, and clear documentation, and who can collaborate closely with development and present work confidently to clients.
You will lead work across four areas: our Base Design System in Figma, a production-ready component library in Elementor and or Bricks, ongoing governance and iteration of both systems, and direct contribution to client projects.
*What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)*
* Create and maintain a scalable design system in Figma that supports accessibility, usability, and responsive design best practices
* Design, document, and evolve reusable UI patterns and components so other designers can build quickly and consistently
* Partner with developers to implement and maintain a responsive component library in Elementor and or Bricks, ensuring alignment with the Figma system
* Contribute to an internal governance process that prioritizes component investment, improves guidelines, and keeps the system updated based on best practices and client feedback
* Support client engagements, including early discovery conversations, design execution, and client presentations
* Collaborate with a junior designer, product manager, and development team to deliver UI mockups, WordPress sites, and reusable system assets
*Required Qualifications*
* 5+ years of UX/UI design experience with a strong portfolio (web-focused)
* Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including auto layout, nested components, shared libraries, and modern features like variables and tokenization
* Proven experience creating and maintaining design systems that scale across multiple products or client projects
* Strong understanding of accessibility standards and responsive design
* Strong communication skills and comfort presenting design work and clearly explaining rationale and tradeoffs
* Experience working with component libraries and collaborating with developers
* Experience in e-commerce and service-based web design
*Preferred Qualifications*
* WordPress experience
* Experience with Elementor and/or Bricks
*Perks of Being a TechBuddy*
* Ownership and autonomy to build and shape the system from the ground up
* Meaningful impact on how the company designs and delivers client work
* A team environment that values clarity, documentation, and practical execution
*How to Apply*
Please include:
* A link to your portfolio
* A short note describing your design system experience (what you built, the scale, and your role)
* Resume or LinkedIn profile
*Next step:* Qualifying candidates will be contacted to complete a *HireVire assessment* as the next round of the application process.
