Job Description
Symetra is seeking a Manager to join our Benefits Operations Team!
About the role
In this role, you will lead and develop a team of data exchange analysts within Benefits Operations. You’ll provide strategic direction, drive operational excellence, and foster strong partnerships across internal and external teams.
What you will do
Lead & Develop Your Team
Provide daily leadership, coaching, and performance management to team.
Set clear expectations, create development plans, and build bench strength.
Ensure adherence to compliance standards and oversee training and workflow readiness.
Drive Operational Execution
Oversee day-to-day administrative operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and process consistency.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
Establish annual goals, track progress, and deliver performance metrics to leadership.
Manage pipeline of inventory and overall demand and capacity needs
Manage Resources & Workflows
Assess staffing needs and support hiring, onboarding, and training efforts.
Monitor budgets and maintain expense discipline.
Prioritize team projects and assign resources to ensure successful delivery.
Partner Across the Business
Build strong relationships with internal partners, external administrators, and distribution teams. This includes key benefit platform partners
Participate in product development initiatives and anticipate impacts to operations.
Represent Benefits Operations in cross functional meetings and act as a key decision maker.
Communicate & Represent the Organization
Deliver presentations to internal and external audiences.
Travel as needed for training, meetings, or business opportunities.
Serve as backup to the Director/AVP when required.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Compensation
Salary Range: $96,700-$161,200 plus eligibility for annual bonus program
Who You Are
You must have 5+ years of relevant experience and a solid understanding of operations.
You’re an experienced operations leader, process owner or team lead who knows how to guide teams through complex, customer focused work with clarity and confidence.
You bring strong business judgment, a knack for solving problems quickly, and a steady focus on accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
You’re passionate about developing people, coaching your team, setting clear expectations, and building a supportive environment where individuals grow and deliver great results.
You thrive in fast paced settings, stay organized across competing priorities, and consistently look for ways to improve processes and elevate the customer experience.
You communicate well with partners at all levels, build trust easily, and represent your team effectively in cross functional conversations.
High school diploma required. College degree preferred.

Required Training & Professional Development
All newly hired people leaders with direct reports are required to complete a comprehensive leadership development program within their first year. This program includes both virtual and in-person training. The in-person sessions will take place at Symetra’s corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. Symetra covers all travel and accommodation expenses.
