We are seeking a Build Engineer with a strong ambition to grow and develop further in the DevOps career path. In this role, you will work in a multi-disciplinary environment to build and maintain our infrastructure automation landscape and support key engineering teams across the organization.
You will be part of a global DevOps team responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure and delivery pipeline. We collaborate closely with Agile (Kanban methodology) development teams to deploy and manage code changes, and with Operations teams to ensure our customer-facing systems run reliably at scale.
The primary objectives and responsibilities of a Build Engineer includes:
Build Optimisation: Maintain and optimise Maven configurations to ensure consistent, reproducible builds across all environments.
Lifecycle Upgrades: Execute and verify runtime, framework, and library upgrades, including Java , Spring , and Tomcat .
Security & Patching: Proactively monitor CVEs and apply security patches to remediate vulnerabilities in alignment with guidelines.
CI/CD Support: Manage stable automated pipelines, artifact repositories, Docker images, and deployment tooling.
Quality Engineering: Improve integration test suites and ensure reliable execution within the CI/CD lifecycle.
Issue Resolution: Investigate build failures and collaborate with developers to resolve root causes and deployment incidents.
Stakeholder Alignment: Coordinate with Architecture, Dev., and QA teams to plan upcoming technical changes and refinements.
Knowledge Management: Maintain technical documentation to support system transparency and team collaboration.
In the interest of Pay Transparency, the base salary range for this position is €2,166-2,400 gross/month (€26,000-28,800 gross/year), plus the opportunity for a bonus. This salary may vary based on location and experience.
What you’ll bring to the table:
Technical Skills:
Strong experience with Maven (configurations, multi module projects, dependency management);
Good understanding of the Java ecosystem (libraries, frameworks, runtimes, compatibility constraints);
Experience upgrading and maintaining components such as Tomcat, application servers, or containerised runtimes;
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps);
Ability to write, maintain, and debug integration tests (JUnit, REST Assured, or similar);
Understanding of basic application security principles, vulnerabilities, and patching processes;
Experience with Git and common branching/versioning strategies;
Basic knowledge of Docker/Linux environments is advantageous.
Interpersonal Skills:
Strong sense of ownership, responsibility, and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across teams.
Proactive approach to identifying outdated dependencies, vulnerabilities, and build issues.
Willingness to learn and stay updated on evolving tools and security requirements.
