We’re building something that hasn’t been done before: a modern, scalable, cloud-native modeling, simulation and analysis platform to power next-generation wargaming and real-time analytics for national defense. The technology is sophisticated. The mission is urgent. The bar is high.
What We’re Building
A distributed microservices system running in Kubernetes
A platform engineered for scale, speed, and extensibility
A collaborative environment made up of teams working on everything from simulation engines to analytics to front-end user experience
A modern tech stack including Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, C#, MongoDB, Helm, and more
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to provide technical and design leadership for the program’s user experience and front-end implementation. This role operates at a principal level within the UX and UI domain, owning UX strategy, interaction design, and UI implementation quality while working in close alignment with program leadership.
You will be responsible for translating architectural direction into cohesive, scalable, and intuitive user interfaces. This individual partners with program leadership to ensure the user experience reflects system intent, technical constraints, and mission needs.
This role is for the engineer who thrives in complexity, asks the hard questions, and is not afraid to say, “Let’s fix this, and here’s how.”
Key Responsibilities
Provide senior level leadership for UX and UI design across the program
Define and maintain UX standards, design patterns, and UI implementation practices in alignment with program architecture
Translate guidance from program leadership into scalable UI frameworks and component-based solutions.
Lead the design and implementation of React based user interfaces using modern JavaScript and TypeScript
Guide and mentor UX designers and front-end developers, setting expectations for quality and consistency
Ensure seamless integration across C#, Java, and front-end technologies
Participate in technical planning, design reviews, and architecture discussions as the UX and UI authority
Review front end code and designs to ensure adherence to UX standards, architectural direction, and best practices
Advocate for user centered design while balancing performance, security, and program constraints
Required Qualifications
US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
15+ years of software engineering UX experience with increasing levels of technical responsibility
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other STEM-related degree
Demonstrated experience serving in a senior or lead UX or UI role on complex software systems
Experience integrating a UI with publish-subscribe or event-driven architectures
Familiarity with Kafka, RabbitMQ, DDS, etc
Experience optimizing UI response times through data caching and write policies (write-back, write-around, etc)
Familiarity with using one or more database technologies as a data caching mechanism (Redis, SQLite, PostgreSQL, etc)
Strong hands-on experience with React
Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript
Working experience with C# in a UI or full stack environment
Familiarity with Java to collaborate effectively with backend teams and understand system interactions
Solid understanding of UI architecture, component-based design, and front-end design patterns
Experience building and maintaining reusable UI components and design systems
Ability to work effectively within an established system architecture and take technical direction at the program level
Preferred Qualifications
Active security clearance
Experience supporting large scale, mission critical, or government programs
Familiarity with agile and DevSecOps delivery models
Experience with accessibility standards and usability testing
Leadership Expectations
Acts as a senior technical partner to program leadership within the UX and UI domain.
Demonstrates professional judgment in applying direction to UX solutions
Leads through servant leadership mindset to influence and collaborate while driving high standards for UX quality
Weekly demonstrations of completed work to Government customers and stakeholders.
Why You?
Because You Know How to Navigate Complexity and Tight Timelines
On this program, we’re working at the edge of what’s possible (multi-domain, multi-level, multi-user simulations in real time). That’s a lot of “multi.” You see that and get energized, not overwhelmed. You know how to decompose hard problems and lead others through them.
Because You’re Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
This program is an evolving platform with bold goals. You don’t wait for a perfect plan -you move with a sense of urgency to partner with program leadership to help make one.
Because You Get the Mission
This tool isn’t a SaaS dashboard or a data lake in the cloud. It’s software that supports decision-making at the highest levels of national defense. You want your work to matter, and you know how to deliver technical excellence in service of something bigger than yourself.
