Duties & Responsibilities
Purpose of Functional Assignment:
Under the oversight of Artificial Intelligence Department leadership, the Senior Product Manager, Artificial Intelligence is responsible for defining, developing, and launching innovative AI/ML-powered products and features to improve healthcare delivery, improve patient care, and drive operational efficiencies within the organization. The position bridges the gap between complex healthcare needs and advanced AI/ML capabilities, working closely with clinical experts, data scientists, engineers, and designers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Identifies and prioritizes high-impact use cases for AI/ML applications and initiatives across clinical, operational, and administrative functions and service lines.
2. Conducts market research and gathers insights from clinical, executive and administrative teams to identify unmet enterprise needs and opportunities.
3. Develops and maintains high-impact roadmaps for AI/ML solutions that drive to pre-defined hard and soft Return on Investment (ROI) for investing in AI/ML products.
4. Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for AI/ML products, from ideation and discovery to development, launch, iteration, and maintenance.
5. Defines detailed product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria for AI/ML models and their integration into clinical or administrative workflows.
6. Manages product backlogs, prioritizes features, and makes data-driven decisions on product roadmap.
7. Works closely with engineering, data science, design, and business teams to translate requirements into tangible products.
8. Acts as the primary liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
9. Communicates complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and articulates AI/ML product value propositions to both technical and non-technical partners.
10. Establishes and maintains strong collaborative relationships across cross-functional teams to advance AI/ML initiatives and ensure organizational alignment.
11. Partners with data science and engineering teams to evaluate feasibility and potential impact of proposed AI/ML approaches for assigned products.
12. Advocates for responsible AI development and deployment by understanding the ethical implications of AI in healthcare.
13. Designs and implements evaluation strategies for AI/ML models including online, offline and human in the loop approaches.
14. Applies deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, including clinical workflows, regulatory requirements, interoperability standards, and data privacy considerations to administer the implementation of AI/ML products.
15. Defines key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics for AI/ML products and monitors their performance pre- and post-deployment.
16. Analyzes product usage, models performance, and user feedback to identify areas for improvement and guides future iterations.
17. Drives continuous improvement through user research, and data analysis.
18. Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Healthcare, or related discipline and seven (7)
years of experience in product management, five (5) years of which must have been with a specific focus on
building AI/ML products in healthcare; or
2. A satisfactorily equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. However, all candidates must
have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in disciplines listed in “1” above, or in a related discipline, and
preference will be given to applicants with Master’s of Business Administration or Master’s of Public Health.
Certifications Preferred:
1. Certification in product management or agile methodologies (e.g. CSPO, SAFe, POPM, Pragmatic Institute).
Preferred Knowledge Areas, Skills, Abilities, and other Qualifications:
1. Possess a strong understanding of AI/ML concepts, methodologies, and their practical application in real-world
scenarios.
2. Working knowledge of SQL and scripting languages to support product development discussions.
3. Proven experience working within the healthcare industry or on healthcare-related products.
4. Strong understanding of various AI/ML techniques, including machine learning, deep learning, LLMs, NLP, GenAI
and computer vision.
5. Experience working with Epic and Palantir.
6. Familiarity with common AI/ML frameworks and tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
7. Experience with data-driven product development and agile methodologies.
Equipment/Machines and Software Operated:
1. Jira or similar product management tool.
2. Visio, Lucidchart, Task Capture or similar process mapping tools.
3. General Office equipment (computer, scanner, printer, phones).
Department Preferences
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and other Requirements:
Experience building data products within healthcare
Comfortable working on top of modern data platforms (e.g., cloud data warehouses or lakehouses, integrated platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Palantir Foundry, Epic Caboodle/Clarity, etc.) and connecting them to downstream analytics tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Epic reporting).
Proven ability to lead and inspire teams and manage both executive and tactical stakeholders effectively
Experience working with cross-functional teams and executive leadership to align on product vision and strategy
Ability to strategize in the longer term while balancing short term delivery
Demonstrated success in developing roadmaps and delivering complex, high-adoption data products at scale.
Experience with developing and communicating platform operational and impact metrics
Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex concepts to various audiences, including senior leaders, clinical teams and technical teams
Experience working in an agile environment
Other Preferred Skills:
Experience with Epic, Snowflake, or other data tools
Familiarity with cloud platforms and data technologies
Experience in leading data product transformation in large, complex organizations
