The company has grown from a small industrial distributor in 1979 to a global supply chain provider shipping nationwide. The company’s headquarters are in Brea, CA which hosts centralized accounting, sales, purchasing, warehousing, packaging, and secondary operations. Fabrication, manufacturing, and additional warehousing operations operate from El Cajon, Rancho Cucamonga, Fresno and Ontario facilities.

Essential Functions of the Role

The culture at ITP is that the management team are hands on. The HR Manager will be active in all areas of the business while having time to make a difference. The HR Manager should expect to be strategic, critical in forming policies, and facilitating change. The position includes the following:

Labor Law, Compliance, Safety and Risk Management Compliance, safety and the following State and Federal labor codes is required in all HR Manager activities. This position holder will coach and advise managers on how to proceed in standard as well as complex situations. They will ensure company policies, actions, documentation, training, and benefit plans are compliant by performing regular HR audits. While having access to attorneys, it is also expected that self-directed ongoing learning occurs via memberships and subscriptions to relevant organizations for receiving relevant updates.

Onboarding and Offboarding: Candidates and employees’ expectations change, and the HR Manager is expected to continuously improve the onboarding, orientation and exit experience.

Payroll and HR Admin: You will approve weekly payroll that is prepared by the HR Administrator. The HR Administrator will assist the HR Manager with the admin workload as needed.

HR Handbook, Policies and Procedures: Develop and communicate HR policies, organizational procedures, and ensure compliance. It is also expected that the company handbook be updated every 12-24 as needed according to the current CA State Labor Law.

Workforce Planning and Recruitment: The HR Manager is a trusted advisor to managers on recruitment, retention, succession planning, as well as on current interviewing legalities and practices. They will be expected to fine tune the recruitment process, update job descriptions, place job posting, screen candidates, schedule interviews, communicate with candidates, facilitate the completion of necessary paperwork for new hires, and maintain all relevant documentation. (With the assistance of the HR Administrator).

Document and Records Management: Maintaining compliant up-to-date in-house records, files, and electronic portals is essential. This would include (but not be limited to) processing protected information, evaluations, incidents, accidents, complaints, employment verifications while respecting privacy laws.

Employee Benefits: Alongside brokers and use of HRIS the HR Manager will offer, craft and evaluate renewals of competitive employee benefits programs, e.g. health insurance, retirement plans, and 401k. Comply with annual or periodic filing requirements as needed. Manage enrollments, communications, profit share calculations, HRA account funding and inquiries from employees (with the assistance of the HR Administrator).

HR Systems: The HR Manager plays a key role in assessing the best tools to use for ease of use and/or cost effectiveness. They also undertake primary user utilization of HR information systems (HRIS), Currently BambooHR, in addition to other portal for 401k/Medical employee access. The HR Manager is key in managing employee data, generating reports, and analyzing HR metrics to provide reports for management from systems.

Development and Performance Management: The HR manager will work with senior leadership to advise on how to develop and encourage performance management and skillsets of the workforce.

Culture and Employee Relations: The HR manager’s duties will span the entire organization. This may include but is not limited to: running and maintaining workplace investigations, instilling best practices in all levels of management to overseeing and handling general inquiries directly from employees regarding complaints, company policies, procedures, and benefits. Employees are located across California and site visits will periodically be needed to El Cajon, Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario as well as Fresno. Evening crews operate in Rancho, Ontario and Brea therefore periodic visits from HR will be needed.

Other: HR projects and cross-departmental initiatives will occur as needed by the business. This may include but is not limited to: mergers and acquisitions, facility relocations, employee engagement surveys, wellness programs, health and safety activities, and employee appreciation events, developmental initiatives and workplace trainings.

Personal Requirements:

BA in Human Resources or other related degree
8+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
Excellent track record of risk control
Good working knowledge of Federal and CA State Laws (Title vii / Labor codes / ADA and Accommodations / FMLA/CFRA and Leave of Absence Management
Strong verbal, written and listening skills
Highly detail oriented and high level of accuracy

Desirable:

SHRM SCP / SPHR
Experience of BambooHR
Bi-lingual is a plus (Spanish)

Physical Activity:- Low impact activity, walking

Strength & Agility:- Low - ability needed to bend, reach, sit or stand and lift daily

Frequency:- Majority of week in a stationery position

Duration of effort:- operating a phone and computer, sitting, bending, leaning, and reaching daily
