Job Description
The Opportunity
This is a highly visible leadership role within a dynamic, creative organization. You will be the senior HR leader in the room, balancing strategic vision with operational excellence.
If you are a confident, pragmatic HR leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, brings structure without rigidity, and enjoys partnering with executive leadership to shape culture and performance, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact.
About the Role
The Director, Human Resources will lead the full people function for a high-profile, fast-paced entertainment organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will serve as both a strategic advisor to executive leadership and a hands-on HR operator.
This role is ideal for a proven HR generalist who has led the full HR function within a small-to-mid-sized enterprise (SME) or standalone business unit and thrives in a dynamic, personality-driven environment. You do not need prior entertainment industry experience, but you must be comfortable partnering with creative leaders and navigating a high-energy, high-visibility business.
This is a true end-to-end leadership opportunity, not simply to administer HR, but to shape people strategy and drive organizational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnership
Partner with executive leadership to align HR strategy with overall business objectives.
Serve as the senior people advisor to department heads and leadership.
Drive high-impact initiatives such as benchmarking studies, headcount analysis, and job leveling projects.
Identify opportunities to enhance HR operations, scalability, and organizational effectiveness.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Operations
Oversee compensation structures, incentive programs, and benefits offerings.
Lead annual benefits renewal processes, working directly with brokers and insurers to negotiate and implement competitive, best-in-class plans.
Ensure equitable and competitive pay practices aligned with market benchmarks.
Manage HR systems (Workday), payroll operations (ADP), and core HR processes.
Oversee open enrollment, benefits communications, and policy updates.
Employee Relations & Culture
Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-engagement workplace culture.
Act as the escalation point for employee relations matters, conducting investigations and resolving sensitive issues with discretion.
Provide sound judgment and balanced counsel in complex or high-profile situations.
Talent Management & Development
Oversee recruitment strategies across corporate functions.
Develop and enhance performance management, career development, and succession planning programs.
Support leadership development and executive coaching initiatives.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
Oversee wage and hour compliance, leave administration, and workplace safety policies.
Advise leadership on compliance risks and ethical standards.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop a small HR team.
Establish clear priorities, processes, and performance expectations.
Build structure without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
Qualifications - Candidate Profile
10+ years of progressive HR experience, with 5+ years managing a team.
Proven experience leading the full HR function (not solely a vertical specialty).
Direct experience managing benefits renewals and working with brokers and insurers.
Demonstrated ability to partner with executive leadership in a creative, high-profile environment.
Strong employee relations expertise and discretion handling sensitive matters.
