*Position:* Entry-Level Financial Coach at Shelter Programs

*Our Organization:*

Financial Capability Investment is a 9-year-old social impact enterprise based in San Francisco that partners with nonprofit organizations and government agencies to provide high-quality financial education workshops, one-on-one financial coaching, mentoring, and advocacy to clients of our partners.

*Our Partner Organization:*

Compass Family Services (CFS) is a 100+ year old nonprofit working on the front lines of San Francisco’s homeless crisis. We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success.

*Position: *

We are looking for a full-time, bilingual (English/Spanish) entry-level Financial Coach with excellent communication, customer service, care, and people skills to join our Financial Coaching team. The Financial Coach will spend 75% of their time working at the emergency shelter programs of our nonprofit partner, Compass Family Service (CFS), and 25% supporting other Financial Capability Investment programs. The ideal candidate is adaptable, client-centered, collaborative, resourceful, accountable, and has a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn the responsibilities of the role.

*Position Overview:*

The Financial Coach provides comprehensive financial education, financial literacy services, and money management support to clients in Compass Family Services’ shelter programs. This may include supporting families in creating individualized financial stability plans, understanding credit and budgeting, and negotiating and paying off debt. This role will work with clients and staff at multiple sites.

*Reports to:* Senior Financial Coach at Financial Capability Investment.

*Classification: *Non-exempt, full-time (40 hrs./week)

*Specific Responsibilities Include:*

● Providing high-touch, one-on-one financial coaching support services to clients in family shelter and transitional housing programs

● Working with clients to create individualized financial plans to improve their financial stability

● Supporting clients with procuring, reviewing, and understanding their credit reports

● Supporting clients to develop budgets and savings plans

● Educating clients about banking services and supporting clients to become banked, as appropriate

● Supporting clients with debt assessment and remediation

● Conducting workshops for clients and staff on topics such as credit, banking, budgeting, and savings, creating habits that lead to financial and housing stability, and other financial decision-making topics.

● Create content for workshops

● Create new curriculum content as necessary

● Other duties as assigned by your supervisor

Qualifications:

● Bilingual in Spanish and English required

● Comfortable with public speaking

● Experience providing financial support services to individuals or families, including budgeting or savings planning, case management, debt payoff, credit report review, etc. Knowledge of the financial sector, including the banking industry, credit bureaus, debt collection, etc.

● Experience working with low-income or unhoused families and/or individuals

● Demonstrated skill using client-centered, trauma-informed approaches

● Exceptional rapport-building skills

● Growth mindset: a belief that anyone can achieve financial stability with the right support

● Strong computer skills with proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Suite of Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

● Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging work.

● Ability to use a client management database

● Must successfully pass and obtain the following certification within 90 days of employment: Financial Counselor Certification from the National Association of Certified Credit Counselors (NACCC)

● Live Scan Fingerprinting, FBI/DOJ Clearance (to be done on the first day of employment)

Pay: $55,000.00 - $61,000.00 per year
