Job Summary

BNY is seeking an experienced Product Designer to lead the strategy and design of one of our most critical enterprise financial products. This role requires a highly skilled designer who excels at defining and designing complex systems, bringing creativity, strategic insight, and user-centered thinking to deliver impactful user experiences.

The role is based in New York, NY, with an expectation of 3+ days onsite per week for local candidates.

Key Responsibilities

• User-Centered Design Leadership: Drive a user-first approach to product design, ensuring all solutions are grounded in user research, behavioral insights, and real-world needs. Create intuitive, seamless experiences for complex enterprise systems.

• Journey Mapping & Systems Thinking: Map and analyze end-to-end user journeys across customers, operations teams, servicing groups, and systems. Identify pain points and opportunities, aligning cross-functional teams around a shared product vision.

• Interaction & UI Design Excellence: Design sophisticated web interfaces and workflows for complex platforms. Develop intuitive layouts, navigation models, and interaction patterns. Leverage animation and micro-interactions to simplify complex tasks and enhance usability.

• Strategic Product Collaboration: Partner with product managers, engineers, enterprise product owners (EPOs), leadership teams, sales, and stakeholders across lines of business to translate business objectives into scalable design solutions that align with technical and regulatory constraints.

• Design System Contribution: Contribute to and evolve a global design system to ensure visual consistency and reusable workflow patterns across products and platforms.

• Complex Systems Design: Apply deep understanding of enterprise and resiliency-focused systems to distill intricate requirements into clear, user-friendly design frameworks.

• Stakeholder Communication & Storytelling: Present design concepts and rationale clearly to diverse audiences, including leadership and client-facing stakeholders. Use storytelling to drive alignment and support product adoption both internally and externally.

• Mentorship & Team Leadership: Guide junior designers, provide constructive feedback, and elevate overall design standards. Foster a collaborative, innovative team culture focused on continuous improvement.

• Design Tool Proficiency: Create high-fidelity wireframes, prototypes, and mockups using Figma and Miro. Clearly communicate interaction models, flows, and UI specifications to development teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of product design experience, ideally within fintech or highly regulated industry

• Advanced proficiency in Figma, Miro, and Jira

• Experience planning and mapping user flows, journeys, and identifying research opportunities

• Experience contributing to global design systems

• Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, sales, and executive stakeholders

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Design, Human Behavior, or related field

A portfolio is required for consideration. Portfolio should demonstrate complex system design, journey mapping, interaction design, and user-centered thinking. A Figma link with view access is acceptable.

Preferred Experience

• Experience designing resiliency or enterprise-level platforms

• Exposure to AI-driven product experiences or AI design tools

• Strong presentation and storytelling capabilities
