Job Description
*About the role*
We are looking for a hands-on technical engineer who can bridge electronic security systems and the software workflows that support service delivery, commissioning, and billing. You will work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Service, and Operations to standardize deployments, troubleshoot complex field issues, and improve our internal tools and data pipelines.
*What you will do*
* Own technical design and support for electronic security systems: access control, intrusion, and video.
* Troubleshoot complex issues across hardware, firmware, network, and software layers (readers, panels, relays, REX, door hardware, fire alarm interfaces).
* Create and maintain system documentation: sequence of operations, as-builts, closeout packages, test plans, and commissioning checklists.
* Support commissioning workflows and asset management in Autodesk Build (templates, statuses, revisions, standards).
* Improve internal operations tooling and automation:
* Build or maintain lightweight services and scripts in JS, Pyphon, VBA, etc.
* Partner with PMs and Service leadership to prevent escalations by improving standards, QA, and handoff processes.
* Help define and enforce naming conventions, configuration standards, and acceptance criteria across projects.
*Required qualifications*
* 2+ years in electronic security systems engineering, commissioning, or advanced field support.
* Strong access control fundamentals (door states, schedules, REX, lock power, relays, fire alarm tie-ins, EOL concepts).
* Solid network troubleshooting ability (VLANs, routing basics, ports, PoE budgeting, logs, packet-level thinking).
* Comfortable writing technical documentation that a technician can execute and a customer can approve.
* Experience working with at least one major access control platform such as Honeywell Pro-Watch, S2 Security, Brivo, Genetec, or LenelS2.
* Clear communication with customers and internal teams, especially during escalations.
*Preferred qualifications*
* Experience with VMS or cloud video platforms such as Brivo, Eagle Eye, Avigilon or Verkada.
* Experience building internal tools for service operations, billing, scheduling, or dashboards.
* Familiarity with IT change control, audit logging, and basic security practices.
* Experience with cloud networking concepts (site-to-site VPNs, segmented subnets) and hybrid environments.
* Familiarity with construction closeout and turnover expectations.
*What success looks like in the first 60 to 90 days*
* You can independently troubleshoot and resolve common access control issues and explain root cause clearly.
* You have improved at least one internal workflow (automation, template, or SOP) that reduces missed follow-ups or rework.
* You have standardized at least one commissioning or closeout deliverable and made it easier for PMs and service teams to use.
* You can speak comfortably to both technicians and software stakeholders and translate requirements between them.
*Compensation and benefits*
* Salary range: $75,000 to $100,000 depending on experience
* Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
Benefits:
* 401(k)
* 401(k) matching
* Dental insurance

* Health insurance
* Health savings account
* Paid time off
* Vision insurance
