*Job Summary*
The QA Testing Manager provides strategic and hands-on leadership across, the testing lifecycle including Quality Assurance (QA), System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Business User Acceptance Testing (BUAT) across multiple concurrent UPS legacy initiatives and Modernization Program phases. This role ensures TRS systems are reliable, secure, compliant, and production-ready, supporting complex, time-sensitive projects that are critical to organizational operations.
The QA Testing Manager oversees test planning, execution, defect management, test environments, and documentation, serving as the primary link between technical teams and business stakeholders. This role also champions best practices in business continuity, security testing, and test automation to drive efficiency, consistency, and high-quality outcomes.
*Responsibilities*
* Partner with business stakeholders to define test requirements, scripts, and acceptance activities before, during, and after testing lifecycles.
* Resolve testing-related disputes and obtain stakeholder concurrence on testing strategies and deliverables.
* Ensure consistent applications of QA, SIT, UAT, BUAT methodologies across all projects.
* Establish and maintain the quality standards for test planning, environment setup, execution, tracking, and production promotion.
* Manage daily testing operations including progress tracking, reporting, issue escalation, and hands-on support.
* Provide clear communications to TRS leadership on testing progress, risks, and outcomes.
* Lead resource management and quality control including staffing, workload planning, hiring, interviewing, hiring, performance reviews, coaching, and mentoring.
* Oversee release management and quality control to ensure applications meet business requirements and are defect-free prior to deployment.
* Ensure successful UAT certification for UPS legacy projects, enhancements, issue remediation, and modernization phases.
* Advance automation, performance, and security testing practices in collaboration with peer leaders.
*Qualifications*
* A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 12 semester credits in mathematics, statistics, accounting, economics, finance, data analytics, project management, business administration, public administration and/or actuarial science.
* Extensive experience in software testing with seven (7)+ years across the full testing lifecycle and strong knowledge of industry‑standard QA methodologies and best practices.
* Project management expertise, including planning, coordination, risk management, and delivery of complex, multi‑phase initiatives.
* Strong leadership and people‑management capabilities, including team coordination, coaching, feedback, and developing high‑performing teams.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
* Deep understanding of retirement system business rules and operational processes.
* Proven ability to drive quality and continuous improvement, including process optimization and performance monitoring.
* Experience with performance, security, and automation testing, including familiarity with automation frameworks and both manual and automated testing approaches.
* Hands‑on proficiency with QA tools, such as HP UFT, HP LoadRunner, and IBM AppScan.
* Experience with Microsoft‑based technologies, including Windows platforms, web technologies, SQL Server, and Team Foundation Server (TFS).
