*Accounting Manager – Growing Construction Organization (100% Remote)*
*Location:* United States
*Reports to:* VP of Finance & Accounting

We are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee our multi-entity financial operations, ensure GAAP compliance, manage sales & use tax, handle AIA billing, and drive the integration of financials from newly acquired companies. *Position Summary*
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations, multi-entity financial consolidation, and acquisition integration. This role requires someone with strong technical accounting knowledge, construction accounting experience, and the ability to maintain audit-ready financials while actively managing project-level and corporate accounting tasks.
*Key Responsibilities*
* *Acquisition Integration*: Lead the hands-on accounting consolidation of newly acquired companies, including chart of accounts alignment, system setup, and financial reporting integration.
* *Full-Cycle Accounting:* Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, bank reconciliations, month-end close, variance analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
* *GAAP Compliance & Audit:* Ensure all financials are GAAP-compliant, prepare audit-ready statements, and support internal and external audits.
* *Construction-Specific Accounting: *Handle AIA billing, progress billing, retainage tracking, subcontractor management, job costing, lien releases, and bonds.
* *Sales & Use Tax:* Prepare and review sales & use tax filings, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations including familiarity with home rule jurisdictions .
* *Multi-Entity Oversight:* Maintain financial records and reporting for multiple business units, providing consolidated P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
* *ERP/Accounting Systems:* Configure, maintain, and optimize accounting systems; troubleshoot issues and streamline processes across entities.
* *HR Administration:* Oversee payroll processing, benefits administration, employee onboarding/offboarding, and HR recordkeeping; ensure compliance with labor laws.
* *Process Improvement & AI Integration:* Identify opportunities to automate accounting, HR, and reporting workflows using AI tools, streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance accuracy.
* *Policies & Controls:* Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls across all entities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
* *Financial Analysis:* Ability to interpret financial reports accurately while providing insightful analysis for decision-making purposes.
*Qualifications*
* Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
* 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities and hands-on expertise in construction and multi-entity accounting.
* Proven experience managing financial integration of acquisitions.
* Strong knowledge of GAAP, construction accounting standards, multi-entity consolidation, and audit-ready reporting.
* Hands-on experience with AIA billing, project costing, and progress billing.
* Proficient in accounting software, with strong preference and experience in QuickBooks Online (QBO); capable of leading system transitions to new accounting platforms as the organization grows.
* Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple hands-on accounting responsibilities.
* Utilize strong Excel expertise for reporting, data analysis, and process automation.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with executives, project teams, and newly acquired company staff.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment while implementing scalable solutions
