Fullstack Engineer (Frontend‑Leaning) – NYC Onsite

A fast‑growing, venture‑backed AI startup is hiring Fullstack Engineers to help build the next generation of intelligent tools for in‑house legal teams. Role Overview

As a Fullstack Engineer, you will contribute across the frontend and backend, with a strong emphasis on React. You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers, ship production features, and expand your scope rapidly as the team scales.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain React components and customer‑facing UI features.
Develop and support backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.
Work within a cloud‑native environment (GCP preferred).
Participate in agile workflows: write user stories, estimate tasks, and deliver high‑quality code.
Ensure code quality through testing, code reviews, and monitoring.
Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to operational excellence.
Collaborate with senior engineers on architectural decisions and engineering best practices.

Must‑Have Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
1–2+ years of fullstack development experience (React + Node.js).
Strong understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals.
Familiarity with GCP or another major cloud platform.
Experience building customer‑facing applications (not just internal tools).
High ownership mindset, strong problem‑solving skills, and adaptability in a fast‑paced startup environment.
Interest in legal technology and solving complex workflow problems.
Based in NYC or willing to relocate (relocation assistance available).

Strongly Preferred

Experience with SQL and Postgres.
Strong GitHub presence, side projects, or open‑source contributions.
Prior startup experience (internship, seed‑stage, or Series A–C).
Experience working on complex, production‑level systems.
Former founder or early team member experience.

Not a Fit If

You prefer slow‑moving environments or traditional enterprise engineering.
You lack interest in legal tech or early‑stage startup work.
You have exclusively worked at non‑tech companies (banks, healthcare, etc.).
You are overly specialized in frontend only or DevOps only.
You struggle with fast feedback cycles or high‑urgency execution.

Compensation & Location

Salary: $110,000–$150,000 (based on experience, interview performance, and location).
Equity: Competitive early‑stage equity package.
Location: New York City (onsite or hybrid).
Relocation: Up to $10,000 for qualified candidates.
