What you will typically be responsible for:
Processing Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable transactions.
Reconciling payment and vendor statements.
Managing cash receipts and ensuring correct funds are deposited in the correct revenue accounts and projects.
Maintaining electronic and hard copies of payment information.
Preparing and maintaining financial records, ensuring timely data entry, and error-free documentation.
Handling and processing supplier statements.
Processing and reconciling Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions accurately and in compliance with established policies.
Processing staff disbursements (e.g., travel, etc.) Collaborate with team members to streamline processes and improve efficiency while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
Ensuring accuracy and efficiency in processing high volumes of invoices.

Minimum Requirements for Application
This recruitment will produce two eligible lists. The restricted list will be for full-time, permanent part-time, or part-time City and Port of Oakland employees who maintain employment for the duration of the recruitment and pass all stages of the recruitment process. The open list will be for all other applicants who pass all stages of the recruitment process.
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. College coursework in accounting is desirable.
Experience:
Two years of experience comparable to Account Clerk II in the City of Oakland.
Desirable Qualifications:
Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (or equivalent coursework).
Knowledge of GAAP and internal control principles relevant to public sector accounting.
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data reconciliation.
Experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable within a governmental or large organizational setting.
