M&A Analysts in venture capital support investment teams and portfolio companies on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and exit-related transactions. Analysts collaborate with partners, portfolio executives, bankers, and legal advisors to evaluate strategic opportunities and execute transactions that maximize portfolio value.
Key Responsibilities
Support M&A and strategic transaction analysis for venture-backed portfolio companies
Build and review financial models, valuation analyses, and accretion/dilution scenarios
Conduct market, buyer, and target research to support acquisition and exit strategies
Assist with due diligence across financials, operations, product, and competitive positioning
Prepare transaction materials, investment memos, and internal decision documents
Coordinate with investment bankers, legal counsel, and portfolio company management
Track M&A activity, comparable transactions, and strategic trends across sectors
Support exit planning initiatives, including IPO readiness and acquisition positioning
Assist with LP updates and reporting related to realized and unrealized investments
Ideal Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business, or a related analytical discipline
Prior experience in investment banking, M&A advisory, transaction services, or corporate development preferred
Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills
Interest in venture capital, startups, and growth-stage company dynamics
Ability to adapt traditional M&A frameworks to early-stage and high-growth environments
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple workstreams
