Job Description

About BOOST

BOOST delivers integrated back-office and technology solutions that empower government contractors to focus on their core mission and thrive in a competitive landscape. We bring deep expertise in cybersecurity, compliance, accounting, contracts, human resources, recruiting, and strategic advisory to solve the operational challenges faced by government contractors. We partner with our clients to navigate the complexities of government contracting, enabling them to scale with confidence. This role is full-time and fully remote, reflecting ’s virtual company culture.

Our technology practice is dedicated to fulfilling the cybersecurity, compliance, and IT requirements of government contractors. GovCon Enclave is a pioneering CMMC-compliant enclave solution designed to deliver a comprehensive, easily implemented, and fully managed cybersecurity compliance solution tailored for government contractors handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).

Role Overview

The DevOps Test Engineer is responsible for validating, testing, and hardening the GovCon Enclave platform by building enclaves, executing automated and manual test workflows, and ensuring that automation changes produce consistent, repeatable, and compliant outcomes across all customer environments. This role directly reduces platform risk, accelerates feature rollout, and ensures that all enclaves remain aligned on supported configurations, versions, and security controls.

Key Responsibilities

Enclave Build & Validation
Build GovCon Enclaves from the automation framework in development and staging environments
Validate enclave builds for:
Correct service configuration
Version alignment (containers, OS packages, platform components)
Expected security and access behavior
Reproduce and troubleshoot build or upgrade failures
Automation Testing & Regression Coverage
Execute and validate Ansible playbooks used for:
New enclave builds
Feature rollouts
Platform-wide updates and standardization
Develop automated validation checks to confirm:
Successful feature deployment
Idempotency of playbooks
No regressions in existing enclave behavior
Feature Rollout Validation
Test new features prior to production rollout, including:
User-facing features (e.g., self-service password reset)
Authentication and identity-related workflows
Infrastructure and platform changes
Validate features both:
Manually (functional testing)
Via automated deployment and verification paths
Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis
Investigate automation failures, configuration drift, or unexpected behavior
Work closely with senior platform engineers to:
Isolate root causes
Propose fixes or automation improvements
Validate resolutions before production deployment
Platform Standardization Support
Assist in bringing all customer enclaves to a consistent baseline:
Container versions
OS and platform configurations
Supported architecture patterns
Validate upgrade paths and document known risks or edge cases

Qualifications

Required:

Strong Linux systems experience (Rocky Linux / RHEL-family preferred)
Hands-on experience with:
Ansible (playbooks, roles, inventories)
Docker and/or Kubernetes
Bash and basic Python scripting
Experience troubleshooting distributed systems or infrastructure automation
Familiarity with:
CI/CD concepts
Configuration management and idempotent automation
Comfortable working in security-sensitive environments with structured procedures

Preferred:

Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments (CMMC, NIST 800-171, FedRAMP, etc.)
Exposure to identity systems (SSO, authentication proxies, password workflows)
Experience building or testing infrastructure platforms, not just applications
Prior work in GovCon, defense, or federal contracting environments

What Success Looks Like

In this role, you will convert manual, senior-engineer-dependent testing into repeatable workflows that reduce platform risk and accelerate feature delivery. Success means:

Reliability – Features work consistently when deployed via automation, not just manually, ensuring all customer enclaves remain stable and compliant
Quality assurance – Automation changes produce consistent, repeatable outcomes across environments with no regressions in exciting functionality
Speed without fragility – Platform-wide updates and upgrades happen faster while maintaining security and compliance standards
Proactive problem-solving identification – You catch issues in development and staging environments, escalating to senior engineers before problems reach production
Clear communication -you document findings, troubleshoot systematically, and collaborate effectively with senior engineers

Role Requirements:

Meticulous attention to detail with focus on repeatability and quality
Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities
Collaborative mindset when working with platform engineers and cross-functional teams
Adaptability and willingness to contribute to process improvements as we scale
Self-direction and accountability in a fully remote environment

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Close vision required.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $110,000 – $140,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Comprehensive benefits package
Remote work environment
Opportunity to grow with a scaling company
