HR Manager – Employee Relations
We are a multi-state, multi-unit retail tire and automotive services company with 300+ locations across the United States. Our people are at the center of our success, and we are committed to fair and consistent employee relations practices across all locations.
Position Summary
The HR Manager – Employee Relations is a highly experienced HR professional who will serve as a subject-matter expert in employee relations, investigations, performance management, and employee retention initiatives. This role partners closely with HR Generalists, HR Business Partners, and Operations leaders to support a positive employee experience while ensuring consistency, compliance, and best practices across all locations.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Investigations
Lead and manage complex employee relations matters, including employee complaints, workplace investigations, and conflict resolution
Provide guidance and recommendations on adverse employment actions such as corrective actions, demotions, and terminations
Ensure investigations and resolutions are conducted fairly, thoroughly, and in compliance with applicable laws and company policy
Draft clear, professional employee communications and correspondence, including investigation summaries and outcome letters
Advisory & Partnership
Act as an advisor and escalation point for HR Generalists and HR Business Partners on employee relations issues
Partner with Operations leaders to address performance and conduct concerns while balancing business needs and employee experience
Support assigned stores or regions with consistent employee relations guidance
Performance Management
Assist in identifying underperformance trends and individual performance issues
Partner with Operations and HR teams to support performance improvement efforts
Develop and maintain documentation, templates, and tools for Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), corrective actions, and commendations
Employee Retention, Rewards & Recognition
Partner with HR and Operations leadership to support employee retention strategies and engagement initiatives
Assist with the development and implementation of rewards and recognition programs that reinforce performance, accountability, and company values
Analyze employee relations trends, turnover drivers, and feedback to help identify opportunities for improving retention and employee experience
Qualifications
Required
Minimum 3 years of experience as an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner
Strong experience in employee relations, investigations, and complaint handling
Demonstrated ability to advise leaders on corrective actions, performance management, and terminations
Excellent written communication skills, including business and employee correspondence
Ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion, professionalism, and sound judgment
Preferred
Experience in retail, manufacturing, or multi-site environments
Experience supporting geographically dispersed teams or assigned regions
Knowledge of multi-state employment practices and compliance considerations
Work Environment
Supports multiple locations across the U.S. and may be assigned specific stores or regions
Remote position, occasional travel may be required.
