Job Description

Job Category: Information Technology
Job Type: Contract
Job Location: New York
ROLE SUMMARY
This role serves as the SAP QA Lead, responsible for driving quality assurance across FS-CD, FS-RI, SAP Business Partner (BP), Workflow, and FI-GL modules. The position oversees a blended onshore/offshore team and advances test automation strategies to improve speed, coverage, and reliability. Ideal candidates bring deep SAP module expertise and Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance domain knowledge, translating business requirements into risk-based QA approaches. Key priorities include expanding automation frameworks, establishing measurable QA standards, and collaborating with stakeholders to align testing with end-to-end processes and integrations (including Guidewire and other upstream systems). Although this is a lead role, hands-on involvement is expected to meet delivery commitments within a small-team environment.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality Assurance Leadership: Proactively ensure that the delivered product is of excellent quality by implementing rigorous testing practices. Establish quality standards and best practices to minimize the likelihood of defects being identified by end users. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a geographically distributed QA team (onshore and offshore) that emphasized accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Test Automation Strategy: Design and execute an automation roadmap that scales test coverage without increasing headcount. Oversee creation, maintenance, and reliability of automated test scripts and frameworks aligned to project goals. Business Process Understanding: Master end-to-end business processes to ensure comprehensive coverage across SAP modules and integrations. Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, and stakeholders to align testing efforts with business requirements. Test Case Development and Execution: Design, develop, and maintain detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases. Review test cases created by team members to ensure alignment with business goals and functionality requirements. Execute test cases and analyze results to identify issues and ensure high-quality deliverables. Thorough Documentation and UAT Support: Document test case results thoroughly, including detailed descriptions of testing scenarios, steps, and outcomes. Present test case results to user acceptance testers (UAT) to build confidence in the quality assurance process and testing efforts. Reduce the amount of additional testing required during UAT by providing clear evidence of comprehensive testing coverage. Defect Management: Proactively identify, document, and track software defects, ensuring timely resolution by collaborating with development teams. Perform root cause analysis of defects and recommend improvements to avoid recurrence. Project Collaboration and Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for QA-related activities within projects, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders. Collaborate with development, product management, and operations teams to establish realistic timelines for testing and delivery. Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve QA processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in software testing and quality assurance. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential quality issues and prioritize testing efforts accordingly. Ensure that potential risks are communicated to stakeholders with actionable mitigation plans. Metrics and Reporting: Define and track key QA metrics, such as defect density, test coverage, and automation progress. Provide regular reports to stakeholders on testing progress, quality metrics, and defect status. Team and individual metrics are to be reported on a monthly basis. Resource Planning and Allocation: Efficiently allocate resources across onshore and offshore teams to maximize productivity and meet project deadlines. Identify skill gaps within the team and provide training or development opportunities to address them. Stakeholder Engagement: Act as an advocate for quality within the organization, ensuring that QA priorities are represented in decision-making. Conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to review testing strategies, timelines, and outcomes.
